What My Spiritual Mushroom Trip Taught Me | Messages for the Empath Soul Podcast

You can turn absolutely anything into a spiritual experience, it is all dependent on the energy and intention you choose to bring into the moment. This is exactly what one of my best friends and I did when we decided to do magic mushrooms together.

Sometimes in life, in our humanness, we can get dragged down by so much, we can get lost in our old programming and the unhealthy societal norms that aren’t necessarily soul aligned. It can take a moment for us to be reawakened into a sense of purpose, or to be reawakened into some light and goodness.

This experience of a spiritual mushroom trip reawakened some lessons for me and it helped me to remember some soul truths that I want to carry forward in my life.

INTRO

Hello hello hello, welcome back to another episode of Messages for the Empath Soul. I’m really excited for this episode because this one is a lot of fun and it’s very different. I’ve recently recorded a couple episodes that are coming out in a little bit, but I wanted to push this one out to come first. I had an experience recently that awakened so much within me and that’s not to say these lessons were brand new ones or they’d never been awakened within me before. Sometimes life, in our humanness, we can get dragged down by so much, we can get lost in our old programming and the unhealthy societal norms that aren’t necessarily soul aligned. It can take a moment for us to be reawakened into a sense of purpose, or to be reawakened into some light and goodness. This experience reawakened some things for me and helped me to remember some soul truths that I want to carry into my everyday life.

This episode has some lightness, some goofiness, silliness and fun to it. We are here to talk about my mushroom trip and what it taught me. Before we jump into the episode, allow me to introduce this space.

This is your soul journey and I am here channeling messages from the Universe to help guide and support you.

This is Messages for the Empath Soul.

If you’re new here, I’m Sydney a ⅖ generator, with a deep intuitive connection. My mission is to empower as many spiritual empaths in this community, creating a ripple effect of compassion and peace that is felt around the world.

We are here together today to talk about my mushroom trip and what I learned from it.

One of my best friends and I have been talking about doing a spiritual mushroom experience for years. Well this summer was finally the time we did it. Let me start off by saying, you can make absolutely anything a spiritual experience, it all depends on the energy and intention you choose to bring into the moment.

My best friend and I did magic mushrooms and we did magic mushrooms for the purpose of having a spiritual experience and wanting to see what would come through.

We started off by taking time to set the setting. We prayed over our magic mushrooms. We cleansed and cleared the space with sage medicine. We pulled tarot cards for guidance and clarity. Most importantly, we were open and vulnerable with each other in order to create a safe and sacred space. Lastly, we weren’t fixated on what needed to come through or how the trip needed to happen. We stayed detached from any outcome.

These are the lessons that came through for me.

Three different lessons that I feel called to share with you because they were reawakened within me through this mushroom trip. I thought they were so magical and I wanted to, honestly, I wanted to record it for myself, so I could come back to it and listen to it whenever I needed to be reminded of these lessons.

I won’t get into the nitty gritty details of my spiritual mushroom trip and how silly and funny it was. I think this is a choice that everyone gets to make themselves. I am an adult, I made the choice to do this and I made sure to do it in a safe capacity like I already said. If you have questions about it please don’t hesitate to reach out. I will pick and choose which questions I will answer because there are parts of my personal life that I am happy with sharing and there are parts of my personal journey that I want to keep to myself. It’s important to have boundaries, and maybe that is a lesson for you too.

LAUGH MORE… YOUR ENERGY MAKES WAVES AROUND YOU

The first lesson I learned on my spiritual mushroom trip.

I think everything in this trip was a very physical lesson, things were showing up in my physical reality to remind me of a much deeper lesson that energetically can support me through life. For this specific lesson I was sitting on a paddleboard, very close to shore. I was safe as I could touch the bottom of the lake no problem. It was so funny because every single time I would laugh or my friend would laugh, the lake was so still, crystal clear and perfectly still; every time we would laugh on the paddle board, the energy of our laughter and the movement of our physical body through laughing moved the paddle board. This created waves ricocheting out from the paddle board.

You could see the ripple of this energy moving out so far beyond our physical bodies. It was such a beautiful reminder that no matter what energy you choose to put out into the world, that energy is making waves around you. Not only is the energy that you are choosing to embody impacting you and your experience, but it’s also leaving an impact on the world around you.

When you are frustrated, the people around you can feel that. If you are choosing to be in a state of unhappy and unease, that can be felt by the people around you. Please note that I said “choosing”, if you are choosing to be in that state of unhappiness and unease. Of course we are human, the different emotions are going to be triggered within us. We are going to move through anger, sadness and frustration; at the same time, I choose to not stay in those emotions. I have chosen a path that has allowed me to curate emotional wellness; I know how to support myself through the hard times and I’ve been through many hard times. I’ve been on this healing journey for almost 8 years now, and it’s stirred up a lot of challenges and difficulties.

At this point in my life I am recognizing I am wanting more joy, so I am choosing to curate more joyful moments in my life and more laughter in my life. I am doing this by how I live on a daily basis. Life doesn’t need to be so serious all of the time, it can be silly, it can be goofy. You can be goofy.

This spiritual mushroom trip reminded me that every single time I laugh my energy is creating a ripple effect around me, it is creating waves around me. It is not only impacting the people who are directly witnessing my laughter, but it is then impacting the people that see those people. If my friends are witnessing my laughter and then they go interact with someone else, they are in a lighter mood because of the laughter I experience while I was around them. That is the ripple effect.

Laugh more, your energy makes waves around you.

SMALL ACTIONS ARE BETTER THAN BIG MISSIONS, THE WINDS OF CHANGE WILL ADD FUEL TO YOUR PASSIONS

The second lesson that my spiritual mushroom trip taught me.

This one is really important because it was something that I needed. I needed it so badly, especially when it comes to my work here with you, as a listener, as a client, as a community member, as a human being. I am called to share my knowledge, my wisdom, my experiences, in a spiritual capacity to help support, guide and provide clarity for other people, like you.

I got stuck there for a little while. If you’ve been in my community for a little while you’ll have seen that I was quiet for a few months. This happens every so often because we are not supposed to be in a state of constant doing - take note because that episode will come out shortly, being in a state of constant doing. I got so overwhelmed with trying to figure out what my mission was. This is funny because I know what my mission is, it has not changed since I started my business and since I started doing this spiritual work for myself and guiding other people.

I felt disconnected to it or I felt a little lost in how to show up, what to say, and what to offer people and how to create the change in the world that I wanted to create or how to leave a lasting impact. I got so caught up in this idea of a big mission and having a plan. My friend and I were building a campfire. I don’t know if you’ve ever built a fire before, but typically you start with small pieces of wood, maybe some newspaper, cardboard or shavings, something very small to start the fire. Then you build from there slowly adding larger and larger pieces of wood, eventually getting to the point where the fire takes care of itself and you just have to add another big log every once and awhile.

It was really windy when we were trying to build the fire and we were really struggling to, not just get it going, but to keep it going. All of the large logs we had were a bit damp and it was really fresh wood. If you know anything about wood it needs a long time to dry out in order for it to be good fuel for fire. We had to really work and put a lot of effort into this fire. We had to take the big logs off and find smaller pieces of wood. We discovered the big logs weren’t working, so we had to keep feeding the fire with smaller pieces of wood and smaller sticks in order to keep it going.

From our mushroom trip the message came through loud and clear for me in the act of doing this, while sitting back and watching us add little pieces of wood, then let the wind come in  and support the fires' growth to ignite these new sticks. It was such a spiritual message for me from Mother Earth, it was the message that small actions are better then big missions.

To tie this into my daily life and into my business and spiritual work, it’s almost like the Universe was telling me “be less focused on your big mission, you know your mission through and through”. Be less focused on needing a 10 step plan and this big idea of what you are creating and building. You know where your heart is, you know where your soul is, just show up and take some small action steps. Focus on one small thing you can create today, and then tomorrow or the next day, think of another small thing you can create.

It’s less about needing to have this big plan, strategy and structure. It’s more about finding enjoyment in the process by each little step that I’m taking. When I can take each small step, the winds of change will add fuel to my passion. The winds of change will flow in and they will grow this fire of passion that I am creating through each small action step that I am taking.

This message and this lesson was absolutely beautiful for me because it helped me to get realigned with my purpose; and to have some inspiration and motivation on how to show up right here and now without getting lost by the bigger picture.

Small actions are better than big missions, for the winds of change will add fuel to your passions.

BEING SUPPORTED BY MASCULINE ENERGY AND FLOWING WITH FEMININE ENERGY

This is the third lesson that my spiritual mushroom trip taught me.

This is something that I have been dabbling in for a long time, masculine and feminine energy. I think my experience over this particular weekend really helped me to not only reignite this message, but to connect with it and embody it in a deeper way.

Being supported by masculine energy, as a woman or someone who resonates more with her feminine energy, I have learned that in order for me to feel safe in my feminine energy I need to find a support system for my masculine energy. Not just my masculine energy but the masculine energy that surrounds me.

In this mushroom trip one of the ways that we were supported by masculine energy was through these guideposts so to say, to keep us in a safe area. Like I said earlier, we were on a paddleboard and we were close to shore. I felt that I needed to be close to shore in order to be safe. There were these logs that were in the ground sticking up out of the water. It was drift wood that had gotten water logged and partial sunken in the water.

It may sound kind of silly and a bit hard for me to explain, but I felt that these logs were this masculine energy that was supporting us. They were the barrier to keep us close to shore. They were the guideposts for us to see if we were drifting too far out into the lake and we needed to come back closer to shore. This was what felt safe for me in that moment. It was so silly, and we had so much fun with it. We named the logs Uncle, Brother and they gave off this very masculine energy.

For myself, looking back on it was a reminder of how I need that masculine energy to feel supported and safe in order to flow in my feminine energy. In the second day on our camping trip we very much were able to connect with the feminine energy. We were able to tie off the paddleboard to one of the logs, it was much windier that day and so our paddleboard wasn’t staying in one place. The current and the wind wanted us to drift away from our campsite, so we were able to tie off to one of the logs in order to allow the flow of feminine energy to move through us and move through the paddle board.

Again, these lessons showed up in a very physical manner and because of our spiritual mushroom trip and how we set the setting for ourselves, I was able to take away a very spiritual, meaningful and impactful lesson from this physical reality that we lived.

I am now calling in different supportive masculine energy to help create a safe space for me to flow in my feminine energy. This supportive masculine energy could be spirit guides I am connecting with, it could be men in my life that I am connecting with and feeling supported by. Ultimately it is my masculine energy because as humans we are able to connect with both masculine and feminine energy. It is not men versus women, it is just two different types of energy that we are able to embody.

I can put up a support system of my masculine energy knowing that my finances are taken care of; that I have a shelter, a home to come to; that I have food to sustain me and keep me alive and I have water; I have a physical space for me to feel safe in. When I drop into this physical space I can then allow my feminine energy to flow more easily, my intuition to guide me and to exude out from me. For me to flow with my feminine energy, my emotions, my ability to heal, my ability to intuitively know something, my ability to create, which is all my feminine energy. I can be in that state because I feel supported by my masculine energy to flow.

I think there are many different ways this last lesson can show up for me, and I’m still figuring it out and learning with it. I think in my spiritual mushroom trip I was able to acknowledge this lesson and see this guidepost as something to carry me forward in my life. Anytime if I am struggling to connect with my feminine energy I can step back and ask myself “where is my masculine energy that is creating a support system for me”. Where am I maybe lacking a support system that is allowing me to not feel safe so I can’t flow in my feminine?

I can take a moment and put up those guideposts for myself energetically in order to remember that I am safe and I am supported and I can tune back into my feminine energy. This is where I have the ability to create, to flow and to experience all of my emotions. It’s interesting because for myself I think this really ties back into small actions are better than big missions. It’s my feminine energy that has this big mission that wants to make an impact and add value to the world. My masculine energy is saying small action steps, lets just focus on one thing right now and then you can flow with your feminine energy.

The feminine energy is also the laughter that I experience and the ability to create waves in my emotional state, to create ripple effects and waves in the world around me because of my emotional state.

All of these lessons tie together for me and they are really impacting my life right now, guiding me moving forward. This entire experience has helped me to see that I can have fun in life, I can be silly and I can be less serious and I am still growing my consciousness and I am still a spiritual being. Just because I am living in the present moment and taking magic mushrooms and having a fun time camping with my friends, it doesn’t make me any less spiritual. If anything it actually allows me to connect with my spiritual energy even more.

I think this is an important lesson for you as well, you might not resonate with taking magic mushrooms and that is totally okay. What is it for you that allows you to connect with your spiritual energy and how can you bring that into your daily life as a human?

Again, such a funny, interesting and different take on the messages that I share in this space with you. But, I really felt called to share this because it was an impactful moment for me in my life, realizing that a mushroom trip can be spiritual and I can gain a lot of insight from this. It’s reminded me to have fun in life and then to take a moment and reflect back to see what kind of lessons come through.

The three lessons I learned again are:

Laugh more, your energy makes waves around you.

Small actions are better than big missions, for the winds of change will add fuel to your passions.

Being supported by masculine energy and flowing with feminine energy.

I always like to tie everything back to you and I hope you can take this and maybe apply it to your own life or see how it resonates in your life or doesn't.

SELF REFLECTION CREATES SOUL CONNECTION

Self reflection is a powerful tool that helps you to better understand yourself and strengthen your connection with the Universe. Which is where you build trust and find a way to surrender more easily.

Use these journal prompts to bring these lessons into your own life.

1 - How can you bring more laughter into your life (ie. who you spend time with, hobbies or activities)?

2 - Where are you too focused on the bigger picture, getting lost in ideas and not creating small action steps for forward movement?

3 - What kind of support are you calling into your life from masculine energy (whether it be from men in your life, or masculine spirit guides and angels or your own masculine energy)?

4 - How can you find more flow in your feminine energy (the energy of creativity, feeling, intuition)?

I really hope that my spiritual mushroom trip has taught you something, or given you a new perspective on how to see yourself and the world around you.

GOODBYE

Remember, your life is happening right now. There is not some future moment you need to rush forward to. Be here, take a deep breath, know that you are meant to be in this moment.

Life will always bring more lessons.

Your soul will always guide you to more healing.

Your mind will always require support to see from a bigger perspective.

You will always desire to be seen, heard and understood.

Be here now for yourself. In time you will feel the call to share more light and compassion with the world.
