Knowing Your Soul's Superpower | Messages for the Empath Soul Podcast

When you can decipher your soul's superpower you can feel a sense of purpose in how you live each day. This isn't necessarily something that is tied to your career, but instead it's something that is tied to who you are and what comes natural to you.

I began thinking about knowing your soul's superpower after a mentoring client of mine indirectly pointed mine out to me. She said  "I show up to these calls wondering what we will talk about, and then you always guide us to something I didn’t know needed healing."

A week earlier one of the members inside The Soul Care Space said something very similar to me and it had me all excited to embrace my soul's superpower.

This is a lighthearted episode that is meant to bring some insight into how you view yourself and your place in this world. I share a few tips in how you can determine your own soul's superpower and I strongly recommend trying it out, or even asking some of the people closest to you for their thoughts.

Press play to begin the discovery of knowing your soul's superpower.

INTRO

Today I wanted to bring forward a topic that I find really important. I talk a lot about healing, emotional wellness, spiritual healing, learning your subconscious patterns and growing beyond your fears. This kind of work is very important and it can oftentimes be avoided or ignored. The most common topics we see talked about in regards to spirituality is manifestation and receiving signs from the Universe, which are great topics and I love them. But what really activates my soul is the depth of healing, probably because I’ve guided myself through it a lot and it’s so empowering to break free from those old limits.

This is not what we are talking about today, instead it’s all about knowing your soul’s superpower. I think this is an important topic because when you can gain an awareness on what your soul’s superpower is you will be able to show up in that energy much easier. You will feel more confident and empowered in who you are and the path you are walking down.

This is your soul journey and I am here channeling messages from the Universe to help guide and support you.

This is Messages for the Empath Soul.

If you’re new here, I’m Sydney a ⅖ generator, with a deep intuitive connection. My mission is to empower as many spiritual empaths in this community, creating a ripple effect of compassion and peace that is felt around the world.

The reason why I felt called to share this topic is because I have been moving through my own journey of acknowledging my soul’s superpower, actually trusting it and finding the confidence to believe in myself and believe in what I am capable of in this lifetime. I think this is important for you to learn about yourself in this journey as well.

It’s easy to get caught up in the self-doubt and self-criticism in your mind. When this becomes the majority of what you are listening to in your mind then it’s no wonder you are struggling stepping into your full potential.

You feel this call, and you know you want to step out beyond the box that society placed you in. You know you have a greater calling and you feel your soul urging you to step into that next level. There are many ways you can step into that next level, and it all comes down to believing in yourself and trusting in yourself. When you can better understand what your gift is that you are meant to share with the world around you, it can be easier to bring more purpose and fulfillment into your everyday life.

The reason why I was called to bring this topic forward is because a client recently said “I show up to these calls wondering what we will talk about, and then you always guide us to something I didn’t know needed healing.”

Later the next week a member inside The Soul Care Space had said “Sydney, you always know how to guide me to go deeper and I always grow my level of consciousness so I can be free from old frustrations.”

These two people showing up and sharing how I was able to guide them to things that needed healing and it’s helped them to release frustrations and heal old wounds really shows my soul’s superpower.  My ability to bring depth in the healing journey and my ability to listen to someone’s story and guide them back into seeing where they are carrying pain or energetic patterns that are unhealthy. This is my soul’s superpower, my depth and the ability to go deep, my deep intuitive connection, and my passion for healing energetically. I have learned that when you heal you feel free and I have never felt so free in my life.

Today I’d love to offer some insight in how I uncovered my soul’s superpower and how you can uncover yours.

I LOVE WHAT I DO & I’M GOOD AT IT

The very first thing you need in uncovering your soul’s superpower is knowing what you are good at and enjoying it. I love what I do and I am good at it.

I got into this line of work because I’ve always loved listening to someone else’s story and guiding them to see things in a new perspective. It’s not that I’m giving them advice, but instead I’m offering support for their needs. I’m not the kind of person that is going to give advice and say “you have to go do this”. Instead my gift and my love for what I do lies in my ability to hold space for someone, my ability to make someone feel safe in their experience.

Whether someone is feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in overanalysis, drained from their thoughts, holding onto fear or worry, my superpower is helping that person to feel safe so they can share vulnerability and express whatever is weighing on them. Then I can guide them in a supportive way to gain clarity, whether it’s in shifting their perspective to create energetic healing.

I continued to practice this gift in new and different ways. I have been a spiritual mentor for over 6 years now and throughout my journey I’ve been able to learn different ways of showing up for different clients depending on what their needs are. I’ve learned to acknowledge where I feel resistance, because it hasn’t always been easy for me on this journey especially as a people pleaser. I’ve had to learn when to say “I don’t know the answer” and being okay with not being able to help everyone.

Even though I am really good at this and I enjoy it, there has still been a lot of learning in the process of sharing my gift. It has expanded me in ways I could never imagine, which is a key signifier of your soul’s superpower. By practicing and living into your soul’s superpower it is going to grow you and expand you. It won’t always be easy because life is not meant to always be easy. It’s meant to challenge you so you can become more courageous so you can experience more.

What I do for other people, I do even more for myself - I reflect on my own life and where I’m experiencing issues, frustrations or challenges. I listen to my inner thoughts and I honour my emotional experience - by practicing this work for myself, it allows me to be a better guide and support system for others. It’s not just that I do this and I am good at it, I also do it for myself and I grow through this practice, then I can bring it to other people.

Now it’s your turn.

I want you to acknowledge what you love to do. This can be a great opportunity for you to journal and list out all the things you love to do. This doesn’t have to be a job or career. Take a moment to list out what you love to do.

Next I want you to list out what comes naturally to you. Whether it’s a long list or there are only a couple things you can think of, I still want you to list something out. Maybe take a moment to think about common compliments you receive from other people and you think to yourself “well can’t everyone do this?”. You are wanting to reflect on something you are naturally good at and it comes pretty easy to you.

The third thing I want you to reflect on is what you are really good at and it uplifts you. It lights you up, you are passionate about it or excited about it. When you list out these three different things you may notice some connections or similar things on your list. You might even have different answers to all three questions, which is totally okay.

The reason why I like to look at what you’re really good at and what uplifts you is because recently I read a perspective from Danielle LaPorte in her book The Fire Starter Sessions. She talked about your strengths and weaknesses in regards to what you would say if you were in a job interview.

If I were in a job interview I would say I was really good at administrative work, or prioritizing a task and accomplishing it; along with multitasking if a problem occurs while in the middle of a different task I can prioritize the problem if it needs my attention immediately. None of these things are my soul’s superpower and Danielle Laporte explains it beautifully in her book.

She talks about your strengths being something that strengthens you. In the strengths I listed for myself, I might be really good at them, but I don’t necessarily enjoy doing them. Your soul’s superpower is something you’re naturally good at and you love doing it, it doesn’t drain you or exhaust you.

When you can look at your strengths as something that strengthens you, it makes you stronger, it lights you up and it brings you more joy into your life, this is how you can understand your soul’s superpower.

Your superpower is not necessarily your job. Taylor Swift is my example because I am a huge swifty, probably more than a lot of people realize. She is a singer, songwriter, performer, which is her job. I would say her superpower is being able to creatively process her own emotional experience into a story that allows other people to feel validated in their own emotional experience. She didn’t have to become a singer, songwriter, performer, she could’ve easily used her superpower in being an author, a motivational speaker, a CEO who shares her superpower through the morale she creates within her team.

Looking at your strengths, what you love to do, what you are naturally good at and what uplifts you, will help you better understand your superpower.

I LISTEN TO THE DOUBT

The second part in knowing my soul’s superpower was in needing to listen to the doubt.

I can only be a good mentor if I take the time to actually acknowledge my own doubt, the fear I feel, and my insecurities because I’m human, I feel it all. By understanding the doubt I hear in my mind, I can work through that perspective and come out the other side with more faith on my path.

You have to listen to the doubt. If you choose to ignore the doubt, it’s always going to be there and it will block you from following your soul’s superpower. For instance with Taylor Swift, she talks a lot about the doubt she felt in her documentary Miss Americana. She felt like she was the odd girl out growing up, like she didn’t belong and she desired validation and acceptance from the world around her. If she chose to let the doubt win she would’ve never become who she became. She never would’ve been able to share her message with the entire world, the message of processing her own emotional experience through a story that then helped others process their emotions.

In knowing your soul’s superpower you have to listen to the doubt, and not in the capacity of letting that doubt win. Instead, listen to it, understand the fear you feel, acknowledge your insecurities, feel it and then you can process it. When you can work through it and come out the other side, you will be able to have more faith in yourself and faith on your path.

In order to believe in myself and my superpower I have to actually PRACTICE believing in myself. Doubt, judgement and insecurities have easily become programmed into our subconscious minds that we don’t often realize how they are keeping us small and stopping us from going after our dreams.

The opposite side of my insecurities are my desires. Those insecurities of not feeling hear, not feeling seen, not feeling understood, not feeling good enough. My desires are to make a difference in this world, to be loved and appreciated for who I am. I can own my soul’s superpower when I can learn to love and appreciate myself unconditionally.

When you take time to understand the doubt, the insecurities and the fear you feel, you can then better understand how to support yourself moving forward. We aren’t listening to the doubt to let it win, we are listening to it feel the pain that resides within in order to transmute it, process it and let it go. Through this you will be able to find a sense of believing in yourself, all because you’ve practiced believing in yourself.

Now it’s Your Turn

Here are a few questions that I want you to reflect on in order to determine your soul’s superpower. When does doubt easily crop up for you? What are the most common self-judgments you experience? When you can look deeper into these areas of your experience you can more easily believe in your superpowers and then live in the energy of sharing those superpowers.

Let’s be real, your superpowers are not a gift for you, they are a gift for the world and you get to enjoy using that gift.

SELF REFLECTION CREATES SOUL CONNECTION

Self reflection is a powerful tool that helps you to better understand yourself and strengthen your connection with the Universe. Which is where you build trust and find a way to surrender more easily.

Use these journal prompts to uncover your soul’s superpower.

1 - What do you love to do that you are also naturally good at?

2 - How can your gift help, inspire, or encourage other people?

3 - What doubts or fears do you experience around sharing this superpower?

4 - How do you want to embrace this superpower moving forward?

I think it's important to acknowledge that as you journal through this and try to discover your soul’s superpower you are going to have moments of questioning “is this actually my superpower? How do I know this is my superpower?”. I’ll tell you something, nobody is going to tell you that you are wrong. Nobody is going to say “no, that's not your superpower”. Other people might say “oh that’s interesting, I always thought you were really good at this.” They are simply sharing a different perspective for you to take the information and reflect on it. When you reflect on it you may realize they are sharing something you are really good at, but you might not actually enjoy it. That person doesn’t know you don’t enjoy it, which is why other people don’t know your soul’s superpower. Only you know what you love to do and what you are good at.

There is also no wrong answer to finding your soul’s superpower because as you grow and learn, your superpower can also evolve and grow. Your superpower can strengthen over time all because you are practicing believing in yourself, sharing your gift, and you are learning along the way.

GOODBYE
