6 Benefits of Meditation

Meditation isn’t only for your mental wellness. Meditation is a life changing tool that will support you with emotional healing, shadow work, connecting with the Universe, manifesting your desires and most importantly uncovering who you are as a Spirit, so you can trust your intuition.

Meditation is a gift that teaches us the importance of creating stillness, living in the present moment, and shifting into our spiritual power. Yes, meditation does all of this and more.

As a Spiritual Mentor, Author and Intuitive Guide I am committed to supporting and guiding my 1:1 clients and community members to living in alignment with their soul path so they can honour their soul purpose. I know that it’s easy for fear, worry, doubt and pain to take over our experience, leave us feeling less than, and render us unable to trust ourselves, let alone trust the Universe.

In sharing 6 benefits of meditation in this blog, I want you to not only know why meditation is important for everyone’s spiritual journey, but I also want you to walk away feeling ready to expand your meditation practice into the next level.

I listed a lot of keywords and catchy sayings at the start of this blog and although many people would agree with me, some people may think “really?! How can meditation do all of that?”. Well, let me share more on how meditation is the spiritual exercise that you need.

#1 Benefit of Meditation

Are you afraid of your thoughts? The majority of people in the world are terrified of sitting in silence with only their thoughts to keep them company. This is because you don’t like hearing your thoughts and feeling the pain they conjure up. You’d rather keep yourself “busy” as to ignore and avoid the thoughts that run on a hamster wheel in your mind.

Meditation isn’t simply about sitting and listening to all of your thoughts. It’s about learning that you have more power than your thoughts and your thoughts don’t define who you are.

Your thoughts are 90% repetitive, meaning until you actively acknowledge and change your thought pattern, the same set of thoughts will repeat tomorrow and the next day and the next. Avoidance and denial does more harm than good. Meditation allows you to acknowledge the thoughts of fear, worry, doubt and insecurities so then you can find a way to overcome them and change them.

#2 Benefit of Meditation

Learning that you are consciousness that is listening to the thoughts, you are not the thoughts themself.

Your thoughts feel overwhelming because you are stuck in the cycle of them as they spin around your head. You feel as if you are on a hamster wheel and you cannot get off. Through meditation you learn to hear your thoughts from a different perspective. Rather than your thoughts taking you for a ride, you are able to see the hamster wheel spin from a higher perspective. Once you detach from the spinning wheel you then acknowledge your conscious choice, which is “do I want to keep this thought pattern repeating or would I like to create a new thought pattern?”

We are human and one of our most common traits is forgetfulness. When we are stuck in the hamster wheel of thoughts it can be hard to remember to change the way we listen to said thoughts. Through a regular meditation practice you build the ability to change your perspective. Meditation strengthens your mind and your capacity to shift the hamster wheel of thoughts.

#3 Benefit of Meditation

Stop avoiding the emotional response.

Your experiences in life always create an emotional reaction or response from you. Without properly processing these emotions the energy of the emotion ends up sitting stagnant in your emotional body, which creates painful triggers for future experiences. When anger is triggered from an experience it’s not only anger from this current moment, it’s all the energetic anger that has been sitting stagnant within you from past experiences.

Through meditation and the process of sitting still with your thoughts and emotions, you are able to process old emotions from your past and finally release the energy that has been stagnant within your emotional body for years.

#4 Benefit of Meditation

Access Soul Wisdom.

When you avoid feeling your emotions you end up avoiding learning a life lesson your soul came here to learn. When you use meditation for emotional healing, you also end up accessing soul wisdom that has been buried deep within you.

After uncovering the soul wisdom you receive clarity that supports you to grow into your next level. A lot of my 1:1 mentoring clients will come out of a soul healing meditation and feel clear, fully understanding the life lesson and knowing how to apply it in their lives moving forward. This is the act of accessing soul wisdom through meditation.

#5 Benefit of Meditation

Connecting with the Universe.

The Universe can feel like some grand thing, and when on your spiritual journey you will find yourself desiring to connect with the Universe in order to receive clarity, understanding and support.

What you may or may not realize is that you are part of the Universe, meaning when you connect with yourself you are able to feel a connection with the Universe. In many of the spiritual meditations I lead in my membership community I guide my clients to feel the energy that flows through their body. By connecting with their body and their energetic Spirit, they are also strengthening their connection with the Universe, all through spiritual meditation.

#6 Benefit of Meditation

Learning to let your Spirit guide you through life.

Often in life we allow our logical, intellectual mind to lead us in making decisions, taking action and processing each situation as it unfolds. The problem with this is that we end up staying disconnected from our Spirit and our intuition.

Your intellectual mind is not the entirety of who you are and so when you live from only your mind and make decisions only from your mind, you are actually limiting your life experience. Meditation is an exercise that helps you understand your mind in the limit it is and meditation helps you to connect to your heart and soul more easily.

There are things your soul knows that your mind wouldn’t understand because there is no logic to back it up. If you are wanting to live in alignment with your soul path and to start trusting your intuition more, then having a regular meditation practice will support you in this pursuit. Through meditation you will learn to let your Spirit guide you through life, rather than only relying on your mind.

These are only 6 of the many benefits of meditation and I encourage you to reflect on these benefits and how they may affect your experience with meditation moving forward.
