7 Journal Entries to Stay Inspired, Confident & Supported through Life

Journalling is one of my favourite mental health practices. I find it helps me to be more vulnerable with myself, learn what affects me most, and discover what fuels me. Over the years my journalling practice has changed as I have changed and grown through life. When I was in high school I would write whatever came to me and it looked more like poems from the heart and the emotions I experienced. In university I started to shift my journalling tactic and I started to write down quotes that inspired me and had meaning to how I wanted to live. After I graduated and began living life outside of school my journalling became more analytic, with to-do lists, plans and schedules. I stepped away from the creative aspect of journalling and how it allowed me to connect to my mind and spirit and instead it became a way for me to memorize things for my job, while scheduling all my tasks.

Over the past year and a half I have been practicing connecting back to my authentic self through journalling. I am opening up once again with my emotions, and using my journal to help me heal and grow through life.

I want to share this list of 7 things I journal that help me stay inspired, confident and supported through life.

1 - Manifesting Mantras

As you may know from my previous blog post (21 Manifesting Mantras for Life) I love manifesting to stay connected to my dreams and desires for life. I use my journal to write down the mantras so I can easily go back and reread them whenever I need to.

2 - Quotes

Just like my university days, I still write down my favourite quotes in my journal. I usually write any quote that inspires me in life or I feel a strong connection to. When I am having a bad day, I need to feel supported, or I want to find some motivation I will go back and read through all the quotes in my journal.

3 - A Schedule of the Moon Cycle & Meaning of Each Phase

I have a strong connection with the moon cycle and can feel the energy of each phase and how it affects me. I like to keep a schedule of the Moon Cycle through each month and a quick description of each phase to stay connected. When I feel a shift in energy I will go straight to my schedule to see which moon phase we are in and quickly remind myself how to best protect my energy and move forward through the phase.

4 - Beautiful Messages from Friends, Family or Peers

This is new for me, I only started having a section with kind words from others about 4 months ago. This has changed the way I live and has already helped me on so many occasions. Whenever I hit a low point, am unmotivated, creating self-doubts, or surrounded by fears I go back and read some of the kind messages I have received from family, friends and peers. These words are how other people see me and upon reading them I am instantly reminded of the love and support that surrounds me!

5 - A Book List

I love reading and always have. My entire family is avid readers and can easily get lost in the characters and story of a good novel. Since I graduated university I have gone through periods of life forgetting about the goodness of a book and how much I love to read. Two years ago I wrote down my very first book list in a journal and started to keep track of what I was reading and my rating of the book. Doing this allowed me to become more accountable to myself for picking up a book and reading rather than spending time staring at a screen. Having a book list makes me excited to keep reading and now I set goals for myself to try and finish a certain amount of books in a year. I have fallen back in love with reading and I am always so happy to get lost in the latest book that occupies my nightstand.

6 - Intentions for Each New Moon

As I mentioned earlier I have a strong connection with the Moon Cycle. At each New Moon I connect to my desires and I set intentions on where I want to grow or what I want to achieve over the next month. I always write these intentions into my journal because it helps me to stay connected to them. I also can go back each new moon and see what intentions I wrote for previous months.

7 - Goal Tracking

This one is really important because it not only helps me to stay connected to my dreams and desires for my future, but it keeps me accountable to actually working towards them. When you write your goals down and are able to look at them each day you can actively work towards them. It’s so important to remember that you are the only one who can truly keep you accountable in making your dreams come true, so why not make it easier on yourself. Having a goal tracker that you can physically look at and interact with as you complete steps along the way is the efficient and effective way to tracking goals!

These are just some of the things I keep in my journal that help me along my personal growth journey.

As I mentioned journalling is one of my mental health practices as I am able to work through my emotions and thoughts by being vulnerable and open with myself and my journal.

What are some of your journalling practices that help you along your personal growth journey? Feel free to take some of my practices if they resonate with you!
